Meghan Remy has typically worked alone at songwriting and performing in her experimental pop project, U.S. Girls. But this time around on her fourth album, GEM, released late last year, she enlisted a bit of outside assistance to help her bring her ideas to fuller fruition. Her husband, Toronto musician Slim Twig helped in the production and recording of the album this time around, helping shine a bit of daylight on her gritty basement sound.
Although Meg toured with a band last year on some European dates, she was back playing solo again this time around, making a stop in D.C. at Comet Ping Pong. Check out a couple of songs from her set above, starting with a performance of “Down at the Boondocks.”
Her album GEM, is available now on FatCat.
