Since emerging a couple of years back, Welsh songstress Cate Le Bon has found herself amongst some great company. She has collaborated with Super Furries frontman Gruff Rhys, and a tour last year with St. Vincent helped to bring even more attention to her work.
Her brand of psych-folk rock has commonly drawn reference to Velvet’s era Nico. But Le Bon’s music also at times tends to recall some of Josephine Foster’s work with the Supposed or even on occasion, Broadcast.
This year, Le Bon has already been quite busy with a headlining US tour in support of her second solo album, CYRK. She recently stopped through the District on one of these tour dates, and we were lucky enough to catch her set and share some of it with you here.
CYRK, available now on The Control Group.
Thanks to Randy Lancelot for sound recording.
