A mixture of excitement, curiosity and community pervaded Commonwealth last night as hip-hop locals from DC, Baltimore and surrounding areas packed the  busy storefront for Phil Adé’s release of his latest mix tape, The Letterman. Adé is known for his observations on District life, clever turns of phrases and playful bravado all of which were on display as he performed cuts like “Out Your Clothes,” “Toast To Life” and the established crowd pleaser, “Hollywood”.

The Letterman showcases the collaborative spirit of the artists it features. Kyonte’s layered-voice blends like cream in your coffee on “The Jacket”, Raheem DeVaughn provides the soulful backing vocals (and a smooth but brief  interlude) on “Out Your Clothes” while Tabi Bonney and Wale execute their own verses on an unexpected but satisfying remix of “Hollywood.”

Have a listen to these two tracks off of The Letterman, which continues Adé’s trend toward sports-themed titled mix tapes, and be sure to watch AON’s video for Hollywood.
