Wild Moccasins

Just over a month ago, the Houston-based Wild Moccasins kicked off their big tour in support of their upcoming album, Skin Collision Past. A fixture in their native scene, the band has been hard at work in refining their tunes, and sharpening up their live set over the course of the last couple of years.

Boy/girl harmonies traded off between lead vocalist Cody Swann and keyboardist Zahira Gutierrez, are a prominent feature of the band’s sound, but lead guitarist Andrew Lee lends a bit of edge to the band’s sweet tooth. Nick Cody keeps the groove on bass, backed by pounding time-piece and newest member, John Baldwin.

The band’s tour was cut short just two dates shy of completion, when a buzzard exploded through the passenger window of their tour van and caused them to head home a bit early (carnage behind this link). But lucky for us, the band passed through DC much earlier, around the midpoint of their tour, and played a couple of songs for us in Miguel’s living room.
