After leaving Nashville behind, a situation that proved hostile to her creativity, and emerging in Brooklyn, Sharon and her guitar have since found an enviroment much more conducive to her artistic expression. Last year’s album, Because I Was in Love features some of the most painfully beautiful tunes I’ve heard in some time.
Sparse arrangements and haunting vocals place her in the company of songwriters like Alela Diane, Marissa Nadler and Diane Cluck. Her folk-influenced songs address you directly with thoroughly engaging melodies that just suck you in.
Last year, a tour with Kyp Malone’s Rain Machine and an appearance on The Antlers Hospice album also helped to put Sharon on a lot of people’s radars as well.
Most recently however, Sharon has come off of a tour with Megafaun following a string of SXSW shows, and is already in the process of working on a new album.
We caught her gorgeous set at the Black Cat earlier this month, and have a couple of songs for you.
